Thank you!

I just want to give a sincere THANK YOU to all of you who regularly follow my blog, leave me comments, email me and enter my giveaways. Don't think I don't notice who you are, especially you who continue to come back. I have met some really great Moms (And a couple cool Dads!) since I started blogging and each one has brought some encouragement and element to the things I blog about. Some of you give me great ideas, you always give me feedback, you help me when I'm second guessing myself, some of you even just drop me emails from time to time just because. Others of you support me by entering my giveaways and several have shot me emails and have actually lined up reviews for me!  So I just wanted to take a minute and say Thank you because I really do appreciate it!

Having said that, one more issue I would like to just throw out there. When companies offer giveaways, I do my best to follow up and make sure the giveaway prize is sent. Some of you let me know when you get them and some don't and that's fine but I would like for you to know that when you do not receive your prize, I do EVERYTHING in my power to get it resolved. There have been a couple occasions that I am aware of where readers have not received their prize and I sincerely apologize. Even though this does not happen often, it does happen and it is out of my control.  I have won quite a few giveaways myself from other blogs and I can count at least 3 that I have never received. I just chalk it up as a loss and forget about it. I'm not saying that's what you should do but if you do have this issue EVER on here, please let me know and I will do my best to take care of it. Unfortunately, I cannot force companies to make good on their word. I personally worked with a company awhile back and wrote up a great review of their site and in exchange they were supposed to offer my readers a giveaway. They told me they would have the giveaway info sent to me that Friday....unfortunately, several Fridays have now passed and the giveaway never came after I spent a great deal of time writing a review of their website. I guess that's the risk you take when you trust people. You win some and you lose some. But I will always fight for my readers to get what is owed to them, please know that. Sending me mean emails doesn't make the company send your prize any faster, although sending me nice follow up emails IS encouraged so I can continue trying to resolve any issues. I simply have no control over that aspect of the giveaway unless the item is sent to me to send out and that doesn't happen very often.

  1. I completely agree! I've been fortunate so far that all of my companies have made good on their giveaway promises. However, I have also won and received many giveaway prizes, but had a couple that I either never received or it took MONTHS to get it. We have no control over it, we can only do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

I'm fairly new to doing reviews/giveaway (only been doing it for about 4 months now) So far I've been lucky to receive all my prizes and so far all the companies have sent the item to me to send out myself. (Although I have my first one now that the company is going to send it out and another one coming up very soon that the company says they are going to send it out). I can understand how that can happen. I can't believe companies would do that but it's a crazy world

  3. Thanks for all your hard work. Seems like this has been an issue more lately, at least for me. Maybe because more people are entering contests & more companies are getting involved. Just this past month I have been dealing with 3 companies & blogs... they just won't answer their emails (the companies, not the bloggers). Unfortunately this is life, but being mean is never okay. As a fellow blogger I know what kind of time and faith is involved. My personal rule is, follow up once... twice for something big, and then let it go. But, it does color my view of the company in the future!

  4. I don't understand people who get angry and send mean or unkind emails to people who are just trying to do something nice. That makes no sense to me. I recently had a similar issue on another blog, where I never received the prize. The blog author was SO NICE and worked really hard to make sure I got it (I did!). I believe the old saying is true: you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. In other words, who would you want to help more: a mean nasty person who yells at you, or a nice, polite person who asks for your help? Hmmmm....kind of a no-brainer!

    I'm sorry that someone sent you a mean email. I really don't understand it, but sometimes people out there do bizarre things. I like what Owen's Mom said and in the future I'm going to adhere to that, too. (I asked my blog author about the prize twice, and now after reading what Owen's Mom said, I probably shouldn't have. But she was still SO great about it!)

  5. I've been the winner of a giveaway that never received the prize, but it was on another local blog. The mama running the giveaway was apologetic and tried many times talking to the owner of the place. It's a place called Lindsey's Bouncing Tigers in Baton Rouge, La and was suppose to be some free passes. Lindsey said repeatedly that she would mail them out. It's been 7 months and still nothing. The blogger and I gave up. The blogger then changed the way she does her giveaways and will now only do giveaways that she has in hand and KNOWS will get to the winner. I won another of her giveaways and there were no problems. Unfortunately, people can't be trusted.

    It sucks to get excited about a win and not get it. I do think it's the responsibility of the blogger to make sure the prize is actually available and going to be delivered. After all, the blogger is the one putting herself out there and it doesn't look good when a giveaway isn't followed through with. I don't think it's right to be downright mean to someone, but I do understand the frustration and why someone would be upset. Readers put faith in the bloggers and trust that when they enter a giveaway and win that they will actually get their prize.

  6. I enter a lot of giveaways and I can count 4 times that I haven't received the prize. I use to email the bloggers and have them check on it for me (not that I held them accountable for it not arriving). I was very courteous and a couple were really nice and helpful, but there were two that were really rude and I have never won another giveaway from that blog. So, now I just move on. I don't want to make anyone upset, because after all it is just a giveaway, right? You win some and you lose some.

    I do have to say that one time I won a Barbie Dvd for my daughter (she went absolutely nuts when I told her I won it). She checked the mail EVERY DAY for almost 2 months. One day I found her crying in her bedroom playing with her dolls. I asked her what was wrong and she said she didn't want to check the mail ever again because the dvd was never coming. It broke my heart. I emailed the owner and she said she would contact the company. She was polite about it, but I never heard anything from her again. So, I just decided to go to the sponsor Mattel instead. They responded back that day and had it sent out immediately. It arrived and not only was it the dvd, it also had a Mermaid Barbie (same as the movie) doll, too. My daughter was the happiest girl alive that day. Mattel is an awesome company. I appreciated it so much. I learned a very good lesson that day. I will not tell my daughter what I won for her till it is in my hot little hands. I know they need to learn that sometimes things don't work out like they should, but that was brutal to watch.

    Like I said earlier, I enter a lot of giveaways and the ones I do win, I try to email each one and let them know that the prize was received, but I do fail to carry through on a few. I must be more diligent on writing thank you emails.

  7. I love reading your blog, I may not always leave posts or anything like that, but I do love your blog! I also think it is cool that your husband blogs as well, because mine would never.

    As for the giveaway of products, I can thankfully say I have never not received anything and surely my readers have always received them. I have often worried what woould happen if they didn't. Because I have thought about it. I have sometimes received emails where they haven't gotten it and then I check into it and the company got behind or busy, and then they get their product.

    I think for me, one the ones I win I shoudl probably start emailing to say I have received it, so it makes it easier on everyone.
