If you are a breastfeeding Mama, you will know that it takes some work if you want your baby to have breast milk while you are away from them. As if it’s not enough work to have to pump breastmilk, properly storing the milk often brings up a lot of questions. One of my biggest issues was finding proper containers that would store breast milk properly and safely while protecting vital nutrients and flavor. This is exactly what the MilkBank system by DexBaby does!
Any amount of oxygen exposure begins to spoil breast milk. Bags and other bottles may store breast milk but both trap oxygen when sealed, taking away from the flavor and nutrients in the breast milk. I have noticed in the past that when I thawed out breast milk that I have stored in bags, sometimes the milk has had a funny smell to it which isn’t at all natural. I couldn’t figure out why our baby was rejecting the milk and found that because it was exposed to oxygen, the milk changed flavors!
Using the MilkBank vacuum storage system is so easy! You just put the milk in the bottle, screw the cap on and use the vacuum pump to take the air out of the bottle! Then it’s ready to store! When you are ready to use the milk, just put the bottle in warm water or a bottle warmer to thaw and then put the nipple in place. You can also screw on the outer insulating bottle to keep the milk warm during the feeding. For longer feedings, you can put warm water into the outer insulating bottle and it will keep the milk warmer for longer.
The Milbank System includes a vacuum pump, 3 vacuum storage caps, a 2.5 oz storage/feeding bottle, two 5 oz. storage/feeding bottles and 1 outer insulating bottle with stage 1 nipple and dome. We also received an 8 oz. vented feeding bottle with a stage 2 nipple. My favorite part is that this bottle is compatible with the Milbank storage system as well so that means less work for me trying to figure out what part goes with which bottle!
Dexbaby is going to give one of you everything that I received! (The Milbank Storage System and 8 oz. bottle!)
