Juggling 4 kids, school, a home and all the fun stuff in between is stressful. I find myself exhausted most of the time and definitely stressed and sleep deprived!!! I have a hard time relaxing and suffer from migraines and other stress headaches regularly. I have heard a lot about the benefits of acupressure but have never been brave enough to try it so of course I was delighted to try out the Yantra Mat in the privacy of my own home!!
I'm going to be honest. When I unrolled the Yantra Mat and saw all the little spikes, I was frightened so I made my husband get on it first. I won't lie. Until you get used to it, it's a little painful. The first couple minutes were irritating but after that, you become totally relaxed! The first couple of times I used it I used a thin sheet between myself and the mat but now I am able to use it without the sheet and it doesn't bother me at all! My 5 year old even tried it out without a problem! There are 4 basic positions you can use with the Yantra Mat. I prefer laying on my back on the mat but you can use it however it works best for you. I personally did not like it on my face but my husband loves it that way! It's a great way to relax and also helps relieve tension headaches and backaches!!
More about the Yantra Mat:
You don’t need to be interested in yoga or acupressure in order to use the Yantra Mat. Just lie down, and the mat will take care of your rest.
In minutes, you’ll feel warmth along the parts of your body touching the mat – that’s an increase in blood flow, a natural response to acupressure. Improved circulation means lower blood pressure and better nutrient delivery.
Additionally, the Yantra Mat’s 8,820 acupressure points provoke the kind of clarity and focus that usually comes with prolonged meditation or intense physical activity. A more relaxed state further improves circulation.
Not surprisingly, people fall asleep on the Yantra Mat all the time. (My husband takes it to bed with him! He usually falls asleep on it and then wakes up, rolls over and goes back to sleep!)
About Acupressure:
The healing art of acupressure has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine. Scriptures written over 4,000 years ago describe "nail beds" that were used to heal the body and mind.
Says Wikipedia: “Reviews of acupressure clinical trials have been conducted… according to the protocols of evidence-based medicine; for most conditions they have concluded tremendous effectiveness in well-conducted clinical trials.”
Acupressure may even induce the release of endorphins and oxytocin, the body’s own pain-relieving and happiness hormones. And there is some evidence that it increases metabolism as well.
The Yantra Mat has definitely made a beliver out of me! I am amazed at the natural healing powers of Accupressure. Now we just need 1 more because my husband doesn't like to share!!
