Fall Fun...Easy Peasy Apple Crisp!

I have been hearing so many people talking about how much they love baking in the fall and we here at the Crazy House feel the same way! But if you know me by now, you will know that I like to keep things as SIMPLE and as EASY as possible. I won't even look at a recipe if it looks even a tiny bit complicated and I know a lot of other Mommy's share that aspect of baking with me so I thought I would share a couple of the EASY recipes the kids and I have made lately that have been Oh So Yummy!!

We decided we needed "the goods" so the kids and I went out and bought pretty much everything we could think of for a good weekend of baking!! (Yep, I use refrigerated and packaged cookie mixes) *lol*

Easy, yummy Apple Crisp

6 Tart Apples (Greening, Rome, Granny Smith, etc.) sliced (About 6 cups)
The kids made me peel ours but you can keep the peel on. It's up to you.
3/4 Cups Packed Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup all-purpose Flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup cold butter or margarine
Ice cream (optional)

Step 1. Preheat Oven to 175 degrees

Step 2. Spread apples in ungreased 8 inch square pan.

Step 3. In medium bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cut in butter using pastry blender (or by pulling 2 knives through the ingredients in opposite directions) until mixtures is crumbly. I admit...I stink at this. lol I had to call my Mom to ask her what the heck to do.

Sprinkle over the top of the apples.

Bake 35-40 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Mmmm. My house smelled so yummy.

Scoop out and serve with a spoon of vanilla ice cream.

Can you say YUMMY?!?!?!

And what better to pair it with than a homemade pizza. (Yep, some of us just like plain ole cheese)

And stay tuned for more fun recipes from our fabulous weekend of baking!
