it seems like the older we have gotten and the more we have moved around the more our Christmas tradition have faded away :( I didn't realize this until I sat here trying to think of what to post. I plan to start new family traditions this year with my daughter, its her first Christmas and its my favorite time of year!! I know that as long as we live close to my sister we plan to take a picture as a family standing in front of her holly bush each year. We took one last year when I was pregnant and we're getting ready to take one this year :) it will be fun to see my daughter grow each year in the pictures.

Our Christmas is a crazy mix up of traditions from three different countries; Ireland, England and Poland. My mother in law is Polish and so we always have a Polish Christmas Eve; a feast of 12 dishes including fish, eggs, soups etc. and no meat as it is a fast day. When the first star appears in the sky, the children hear a knock at the door and when they go to see who it is, they find gifts on the door step from Santa.
So I think my favourite tradition is probably watching a family member sneaking out the back door and depositing the gifts before creeping back and appearing behind us all - the kids haven't twigged it yet! :-)

We used to do Christmas on Christmas eve. We opened all our presents from each other and went to bed early (us four kids shared one big bed that night). On Christmas morning we would wake up to full stockings and our "Santa" presents :]

I'd love to win. My favorite tradition id finding the pickle ornament on the tree. My parents have done this for our family for years and it is so fun even as an adult to see who can find it first. Plus a special prize is included if you find it.

My favorite NEW tradition is the 12 Days of Christmas on a doorstep....
I picked a couple of families with small children, bought a 12 piece nativity set ($4)and some gifts bags and treats..
Every night I would put a nativity piece and a scripture quote and a treat in the bag and knock and run!!
On Christmas eve you end with Baby Jesus, the child will have a whole nativity set and a GREAT memory!

My favorite Christmas tradition actually comes early in December on Dec. 6th, Saint Nicholas Day. Ever since I was little my parents filled our stockings that day like St Nick did. We were always way more excited about that than Christmas Day. (alidear at hotmail dot com)
