Hormel EZ Cook! Never Stress About Dinner Again!

You all know by now that I am not a good cook but that doesn't mean that I have stopped trying. I am continuously on the lookout for new ways to cook great meals for my family that are simple, nutricious and affordable that taste good too!   I was recently introduced to a new, innovative application from Hormel called Hormel EZ Cook. Hormel EZ Cook allows you to enter a code off of any Hormel Always Tender meat product and it will instantly pull up multiple recipes that you can make with that particular cut of meat. The great thing about this application is that if you are like me and you are completely overwhelmed when it comes to making meals with certain cuts of meat, you will have instant access to recipes that anybody can make!!!

I am always up for a challenge so I gave the Hormel EZ Cook application a shot! I have never made a pork roast because I have no idea how to make one so it seemed like this was the perfect opportunity! Since the program is so new, a lot of the Always Tender products don't have the EZ Cook code on them yet so I was able to choose what type of meat I purchased in a drop down menu. I chose the Boneless Chef's Prime Roast. It is a boneless pork roast and since we were having guests over, I purchased 2 of them so I just had to double the recipe. I was excited when the application pulled up a simple recipe called Bacon, Herb and Garlic Pork Roast with Carrots and Onions.  The level of difficulty said beginner so I knew this one was for me!

Bacon, Herb and Garlic Pork Roast with Carrots and Onions

Level of Difficulty:Beginner

Meal Occasion:Dinner

Preparation Method:Bake

Preparation Time:Under 15 minutes

Total Time:More than 1 hour

Serving Size:8

It simply listed all of the ingredients I needed and the best part was, I did this right from the grocery store on my Smart Phone so I was able to get all of the ingredients while I was at the store and didn't have to make another trip to get extra stuff I didn't have at home.  Plus, the recipe was especially good for me because we already had so many of the spices at home so basically all I needed to get was the Roast, Bacon, Carrots and Onions. I bought all of the stuff for this meal for under $20!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Needed:

1 (2.2-pound) package Hormel® Always Tender® Boneless Chef's Prime Roast

1 tablespoon light olive oil

1 tablespoon minced garlic

3/4 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves

3/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves

3/4 teaspoon dried basil leaves

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground sage

6 slices Black Label® Bacon

3 cups ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots

3 cups frozen pearl onions
(I couldn't find frozen so I just used fresh and they worked fine!)

Here comes the best part!  The application gave me STEP BY STEP instructions on exactly what to do. This is huge for me because like I said, I'm not a real good cook so I need simple instructions to help me through!

After you have all of your ingredients, here is the instructions on how to make this lovely recipe!

Step 1: Gather all of the ingredients

Step 2: Heat oven to 375°F. Coat 13x9-inch baking pan with cooking spray.

Step 3: In bowl, stir together oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, basil, salt and sage. Place pork roast in baking pan; spread with 1 tablespoon herb mixture. Lay strips of bacon, overlapping if necessary, over top of roast; tuck ends underneath.

Step 4: In large bowl, stir together carrots, onions and remaining herb mixture. Spoon carrot mixture around roast.

Step 5: Bake pork roast, stirring vegetables, 1 hour 10 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 150°F. Cover with aluminum foil; let stand 15 minutes or until temperature reaches 160°F.

Step 6: Serve pork roast with potatoes and salad.

Doesn't this look YUMMY?!

Looks easy enough, right?! Well let me tell you.....it wasn't just easy! It was INCREDIBLY easy! I was able to get all of the prep done in less than 15 minutes and everything came out perfectly! I cheated and used a throw-away pan too so clean-up afterwards was a cinch! My favorite part was just how simple the Hormel EZ Cook was from start to finish. Being able to access it from my phone, while at the grocery store made it so easy and cut so much time out of my meal planning, grocery shopping and dinner preparation giving me more time to spend with my family.

Stay tuned for another great recipe!  Next week I'll be making a Boneless Pork Tenderloin with the Always Tender EZ Cook Application!

*This is my honest opinion of the Hormel EZ Cook Application. Other opinions may vary. I received a gift card and coupons to complete this review*
