I'm a BAD Mom!

This weekend was super busy, even more than normal! Drew had a baseball game at 10:00 a.m. We then had Emma and Joshua's birthday parties at 1:00 p.m. and then Drew had his last soccer game of the season at 6:00 p.m. I knew it was going to be a busy day so I was up by 6:30 yesterday morning running around like a crazy lady getting everything together.

We got to the park and the sun was blazing. Because we aren't used to the sun (I told you, Ohio has had AWFUL weather lately!!!) I immediately realized I had forgotten sunscreen. I didn't freak out though because it was still early when the sun wasn't at its hottest and I figured, how long could a little league baseball game take anyway?! HA! Let me answer that question for you. It took a loooooooooooooooooooooong time! 2.5 hours to be exact. I had to leave early to go decorate for the party and pick up last second items before the party.

Soooooo, I get to the park where we are having the party and UH OH! To my surprise, the shelter house was full and these people were having a GRADUATION party! I immediately flipped. I felt my eyes welling with tears as I called my hubby who was still at the ballpark and asked him what the heck we should do. Luckily, the people were very nice and let us have a picnic table which we set up in the shade, crisis averted! I couldn't believe it turned out so well. The kids could care less, all they wanted to do was play anyway so I freaked out for nothing! I had just been worried because my aunt made a beautiful cake for Emma and I was afraid I wasn't going to have anywhere to set it up!!!

This is the top layer! Isn't it adorable?! My aunt did an AWESOME job!

She made the bottom 2 layers cupcakes and they were soooo cute! (And yummy!)

So back to me being a bad Mom. *lol* By time we got home yesterday, everyone was exhausted. The older 3 went home to stay the night w/ Grandma and Grandpa and they kept the baby for a couple of hours too so hubby and I got to go out on a date! We went to Red Lobster and it was soooooo nice being able to enjoy a dinner without any kids!!! When we got back, I noticed the kids were all sunburnt. All 4 of them. Not terrible burns but enough where I felt like a BAD MOM! I can't believe I forgot sunblock yesterday. This is only the beginning of Summer and we will be out in the sun constantly for the next 3 months!  I am going out today to buy a bottle to keep in both the car and the van and another to keep at home.

Do you ever have "Bad Mom" moments or am I the only one? lol

  1. Don't worry. It happens to all of us! I will never forget when my godson was about 4-6 months old, and I had gone out to visit him and his mother (my best friend) in New Mexico. We decided to go check out some hieroglyphs at a park. Did we remember sunscreen? Of course not! Poor child, his legs were beet red. We *both* felt horrible! Just put some aloe vera gel on them and it'll heal up before they're married. :-)

  2. I think everyone has epic Mommy fails! I know I do.

  3. I can totally relate, it happens!! Hey, you could try to WIN some new sunscreen from Episencial on my blog! ;) I love Episencial and it mineral based, and rated as a safe sunscreen for all ages. I recommend it!

I love comments!! Thanks for taking the time!
