Keep America Beautiful PLUS Giveaway! Ends 5/25

I live in an area that is home to one of the largest man-made lakes in America, Grand Lake St. Mary’s. While the lake has struggled in the past couple of years with an algae problem, our area continues to be a high tourist area, especially in the summer. I think it is extremely important to keep our area clean and neat for a number of reasons but mostly because it’s our city and it’s our responsibility to take care of it. I take pride in the place that I call home and there is nothing more that I hate than walking down a street littered with trash and debris because someone was too lazy or didn’t care enough to find a trash can! I was super excited to learn about an awesome program called Keep America Beautiful where communities all over the country are joining forces to keep their communities clean!!! I found through the website that there isn’t a program here where I live so I have requested an application so I can get a team together to start our own group right here! I know it is going to be a lot of work but I am committed to showing my children that it is OUR responsibility to take care of this wonderful Earth that we have been given!

Here's a pic of the courthouse, downtown in the city that I live in! I take pride in where I live and want to help keep it clean!

More about Keep America Beautiful:

Keep America Beautiful believes that each of us holds an obligation to preserve and protect our environment. Through our everyday choices and actions, we collectively have a huge impact on our world. It's really a simple concept, but one with far reaching effects.

Keep America Beautiful follows a practical approach that unites citizens, businesses and government to find solutions that advance our core issues of preventing litter, reducing waste, and beautifying communities.

The diverse American landscape consists of many different "community environments," each with their own interconnected needs and challenges. With a national network of more than 1,200 local affiliates and participating organizations, we combine education with hands-on stewardship to address the needs of communities on an intensely local and effective level.

I hope you will take a minute to check out the Keep America Beautiful site at http://www.kab.org/ and see what you can do to help!!!

We could collect cans from businesses and even go through the trash. Missouri does not collect a deposit so most people do not recycle. ESPECIALLY restaurants!

  23. Such a great giveaway! My family and I walk every day a few miles down the road and back and while we do it we pick up the trash. We live in the country so there aren't alot of house and people think it's a dumping ground. But by having my kids join in they enjoy it and it teaches them to do it everywhere they go.
