Back to School with Master Lock!

I was at our local Wal-mart today and I couldn't believe all of the school supplies that are out already. Backpacks, lunchboxes, supplies. Uggggggh. It reminded me all too well that summer is going to end before we know it and SCHOOL is just around the corner. School starts here in just over a month and we are both looking forward to it and dreading it. It seems like it is so much work to get everything done before it's time to start, especially since we have 3 in school now! This year we will have a 1st grader, a 3rd grader and a 4th grader! That means we will be spending a LOT of money before school starts.

I have found that it is easier to manage by buying one child's stuff at a time. For the next few weeks, we will probably take one child at a time for staples like new tennis shoes, clothes, etc. and then we will make one big trip to get all of our other supplies.

My number one tip is to make sure you have the list of supplies from the school on hand at the store when you go and make sure you get everything on the list. Also, check with the child's teacher before school starts and make sure there's no additional supplies needed. It never fails that school starts and we don't have everything because we forgot to check with the teachers!!

Also, start making your children go to bed early at least a couple of weeks in advance. There is nothing worse than trying to transition your children into decent bedtimes again before school starts!!

This will be Drew's first year of having a locker too so we need to make extra provisions for him. He has to have a backpack that can carry all of his supplies AND fit in the locker. We also need to buy him a lock! If you have a child that is just going into a school where they will have a locker for the first time, I suggest you buy a lock EARLY and have him/her work on it at home for awhile before school starts! This will ensure that he or she knows how to use one before school starts saving them a lot of embarassment and time!!

Check out the Masterlock Facebook Page to see how they can help!

What are you doing to prepare your kids for Back to School?!
