Boy Scouts of America

This post brought to you by Boy Scouts of America. All opinions are 100% mine.

We are so excited this year because our 6 year old is finally old enough to join the Cub Scouts. Our oldest son never had much interest in anything but sports but our 1st grader is completely different.  He loves doing things outdoors with my husband so we knew that eventually he would be involved in the Boy Scouts of America!!  We missed the first meeting because of soccer but we are looking forward to attending the next one and getting him signed up!!!

I know a lot of people have a preconceived notion that Boy Scouts is all about tying knots and doing tasks to earn badges but it is so much more than that!  It also introduces boys to technology that is shaping our future!  Right now they are rolling out a new curriculum with emphasis on STEM: science, technology, engineering and math. The Robotics merit badge is helping Scouts develop critical skills that are relevant in today's competitive world. They also offer a lot of physical activities to keep kids healthy and active!!

There are a million reasons that I can think of for why I love the whole scouting program but mostly I think it's because of the skills that scouting teaches.  Not just the fun stuff either but they really embrace the role of the family and support activities that get everyone involved.  Cub scouting takes great care in teaching Scouts a wholesome system of values and beliefs while building and strengthening relationships among family members and that rocks!   I am hoping that my oldest son will see how much our 6 year old loves it and he might want to Be A Scout too!!!
