Helping Kids Grow Up

Ahhhhhhhh. Why does being a Mommy have to be so hard sometimes?!?!?!?!

School has been back in session for several weeks now and things have actually been pretty smooth sailing. I have gotten everybody back into routine and things were all going so good. THEN, out of nowhere last week, Joshua, our 1st grader, started crying every morning when it came time to leave and he has since continued EVERY SINGLE DAY.  I asked him why he was crying and his only reponse was "I just miss you so much." I know he has to go to school but geeeeeeeez. I have no idea what to do to help him!  I thought he was fine once he got there so I wasn't worrying too much but then I found out last Friday that he has been seen crying at lunch too. I asked him about that and again he answered with "I just miss you." I am just not sure what could have happened between the first week of school and now that has caused such a change and I don't know what to do to fix it. I thought about going in to the school and talking to the teacher and seeing if that helps but other than that, I don't know what to do.

Any ideas?!  I just want to help the poor boy! He has so many years of school ahead of him, I hate to see him like this. :(

  1. Do they have lunch moms or can you help with the next party or event? Then he has something to look forward to. I know a lot of moms who have helped with lunch or recess. Ask in the office or his teacher may know and if not like I said usually they need mommy helpers for parties and even field trips. Good luck!

  2. Goodness I'd be in tears myself! My son cried last week at breakfast. He's had a lack of consistency because his teacher has a lump on her breast - many appt. for her. :(

I wish I had good advice. I guess just talk with him. Maybe write notes to go in his lunch box.

  3. awww, that breaks my heart! My little boy started kindergarten this year, and i think i miss him more than he misses me! lol
HIs teacher told him to tell me to Kiss the palm of his hand everyday before he leaves for school, and if he misses me while hes in school, all he has to do is touch his palm to his face and i will "KISS" him.. so of course, each morning, i kiss his palm, and he kisses mine too! :)

I know that isnt much, but maybe stuff like that can help him. Maybe you can leave a sweet note in his lunch box everyday to remind him that you are thinking about him

I love comments!! Thanks for taking the time!
