National Psoriasis Month with Dermarest

August was National Psoriasis month and I have to admit....I have been hearing A LOT more about the pesky skin disease since Kim Kardashian came out claiming to have the disease.  I have witnessed firsthand what this awful disorder can do to a person as my husband and mother-in-law both suffer from it and I know that it definitely takes a physical and emotional toll on those who suffer from it. My husbands is moderate with small patches on his knees, elbows and his scalp but my mother-in-law's spreads over much of her arms and legs.  I have watched her year after year wear long pants and long sleeves, even in the summertime to coverup the spots and I just cannot imagine how it must feel to have people staring at you like you have a contagious disease.

Psoriasis, the most common autoimmune isease in the United States, affects more than 7.5 million Americans. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, psoriasis is not contagious and develops when a person’s immune system sends faulty signals that tell skin cells to grow too quickly. It can occur at any age and is typically hereditary. While there is no cure for psoriasis, there are products available to ease the symptoms of it.

We were recently sent the full line of over the counter Psoriasis products from Dermarest and my husband was more than happy to try them out. Much to our surprise, we already had a matching bottle of Dermarest® Psoriasis Medicated Shampoo and Conditioner in our shower and didn't even know it! They also offer Dermarest® Psoriasis Medicated Skin Treatment and Dermarest® Psoriasis Medicated Moisturizer, all available to relieve and reduce the symptoms of psoriasis including itching, scaling and redness as well as prevent future reoccurrences of the condition.

My husband tried the products for a couple of weeks and he actually did see improvement.  He has been using the shampoo and conditioner for a few months already prior to us receiving these products to review and he definitely notices a relief in both the symptoms and the appearance of the spots on his skin.  If you suffer from Psoriasis, these products are definitely worth a shot!!!  My husband will continue using the Dermarest products because it's a great alternative to costly prescription medications without all of the potential side effects and they are available at most of our local stores!
