Easy Frosted Heart Sugar Cookies

So you want to make a sweet treat for Valentine's Day but you are lacking time and/or motivation, right?! If so, this recipe from Pillsbury is JUST for you! I love recipes that use refrigerated sugar dough because it saves me a lot of time and it is WAY less messy. So check this one out. It's super easy and the cookies are delicious!!!

Frosted Heart Sugar Cookies

What you Need!

-Cookies-

1 roll (16.5 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated sugar cookies, well chilled

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

-Frosting-

2 cups powdered sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

1/4 cup shortening

2 to 4 tablespoons milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Food color

DIRECTIONS

1.) Heat oven to 350°F. Remove half of cookie dough from wrapper; refrigerate remaining dough until needed. In small bowl, mix 1/3 cup powdered sugar and the flour.

2.) Sprinkle half of sugar mixture onto work surface. Coat sides of half roll well-chilled dough with sugar mixture. Roll out to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with 2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter dipped in sugar mixture.

3.) On ungreased cookie sheets, place hearts 2 inches apart.  Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely. Repeat with remaining half of dough.

4.) In medium bowl, beat all frosting ingredients except food color until smooth and of desired spreading consistency. Beat in desired amount of food color. Pipe or spread on cooled cookies. Let stand until frosting is dry. Store cookies in single layer in covered container.
