Easy Valentines Day Treats for Kids

It's almost Valentine's Day and with 3 children in elementary school, I am about to be a very busy Mama! Everybody always sends in cookies and cupcakes for the V-day parties so I thought it would be fun to make up something a little different this year. Hope you all enjoy this easy and yummy recipe....my kiddos LOVE it. It's easy, inexpensive and it goes a long way so if you have a lot of people to feed, this is a great choice! I have about 75 kids in total to send in treats for so I will just need to make a few batches of this up....my kids also love to help and it makes things go pretty quick. I mix everything up and then they help get it all put into bags. Easy peasy and super yummy!

What you Need:

1 package of Wilton Candy Melts
2 bags of Orville Redenbacher's Tender White Microwave Popcorn
1 bag of V-day M&M's (I used the milk chocolate but they also have a cherry flavor)
Valentine Sprinkles (optional)
Treat Bags

Directions:

Step 1. Pop the popcorn and put it into a bowl (we picked out the unpopped kernels first)

Step 2. Melt the Wilton Candy Melts according to the package

3.) Mix the popcorn, M&M's and melted chocolate all together with a large spoon

4.) Pour onto wax paper to dry (Takes about 30 minutes)

5.) Shake the candy sprinkles over the popcorn if desired (We used the Wilton's variety pack that had 6 different kinds!)

6.) Put into a container or in the individual treat bags and enjoy!

  4. I actually thought about trying it with some sort of nuts here at home. One of the kids in my son's class has a peanut allergy so I can't do it for school but I think it would be even yummier. Maybe even add some pretzels!

  5. Hi I was thinking about making this for the kidos since they love popcorn, but I only use air popped popcorn. Our microwave tends to ruin bagged popcorn no matter what we do. :( Does anyone know about how much kernels I would need for this recipe to turn out right??? Thanks it sounds so yummy
