We here at the Crazy House love games so we are super excited to be working with Educational Insights this year!!!! They offer some of the funnest games we have seen on the market and they have games for just about every age group!! We received our first shipment of games from them this week and we couldn't wait to try them out! The kids were super excited when they opened the package and even helped me clean up after supper last night so we could play our first new game, Grandma's Trunk!
Grandma's Trunk
Grandma's Trunk is a super fun game for children who are beginning to read! It includes the cute trunk, 26 alphabet picture cards, 26 alphabet riddle cards and an instruction sheet. The best part about this game in my opinion is that there are 5 different ways you can play....that's 5 games in 1 and for less than $15, you can't beat that!!!
Ways to Play!
1.) What comes next? Players take turns placing the letter cards in the trunk in alphabetical order. (Awesome for children who are learning letter recognition!)
2.) Memory Time! Players take turns repeating the sequence of cards already in the trunk and then each player adds one of their own, challenging the other players to remember them all in order!! (This really had my kids howling! They thought it was fun to try and "trick" Mommy!
3.) Grandma's Riddles. One person deals the cards then reads a riddle. It's a race to see who has the letter card that answers the riddle! (I have to say, this was the funnest game for us! The kids had a blast shouting out the answers when they had the right card)
4.) Letter Sequence Memory. Deal the cards and take turns putting them into the trunk in alphabetical order, repeating the items already in the trunk and challenging the other players to remember them all in alphabetical order. (Awesome for teaching children the alphabet!)
5.) Grandma's Adventures. Place the letter cards in the trunk and take turns pulling them out to create a cooperative story. (Plan on a lot of laughs with this one! We played this one over and over again because the kids thought it was so funny!)
Overall, we think this is an awesome game and perfect for those little readers. I am always looking for games that help my little one's learn but also allow them to have fun at the same time and Grandma's Trunk is DEFINITELY a good one that accomplishes this.
You will definitely want to "like" the Educational Insights Facebook Page because I heard through the grapevine that they love to share coupon codes and deals on their page! As a plus, they offer a lot of great contests and giveaways on the Facebook page as well so be sure to give them a "like" so you can join in on all of the fun!!!
