One of the things in life that bothers me the most is the thought of people going hungry. I have the softest heart for people in need and to think of how many people not only in this world but right here in our own country that are starving is just unfathomable to me. It is said that more than 50 million Americans don't know when their next meal will come and I am just astonished by that number. Food banks see a drastic decrease in donations this time of year which means right now, more people are going hungry than ever so I am inviting all of you to Vote to fight spring hunger with Walmart!!!!
Walmart is working with Feeding America and four of the most prominent food brands in America- ConAgra, General Mills, Kraft and Kelloggs, in a nationwide initiative of Fighting Hunger Together. From Monday, April 9 through April 30, consumers can help join the fight in store or through Facebook. Consumers may vote among 200 communities with the highest unemployment rate as determined by a Department of Labor Report and Wal-mart will donate a total of $2 million to the 21 communities that receive the most support. Check out the list of communities here! http://bit.ly/H1yxFK! I am planning on voting for El Centro, California as their unemployment rate is just astonishing to me!!! Reading this list makes me realize how blessed I am to live in an area that has a thriving economy and plenty of jobs.
This initiative is expected to generate 43 million meals for families in need but only with your help. You can visit the store between April 9 and 30 and purchase select products from the 4 participating companies to help donate meals to Feeding America or Action for Healthy Kids. Check out in-store signs and packaging to ensure your purchases are making a difference. This is an easy way to help feed those in our country who are going without and I hope you all will take the time to vote and to support this cause!
