What's Lurking Under Your Kitchen Sink?! Shaklee Giveaway Ends 4/29 #GetClean

It's Earth Month this month and I was SO excited to be involved in the Shaklee "What's Lurking Under Your Kitchen Sink" campaign!!!!  As a parent, I am often concerned about the cleaning products we use around our home, knowing they are unsafe for the environment AND potentially harmful to my family.  Shaklee offers a full line of  natural and nontoxic cleaning products that have been reviewed and endorsed for their safety by Healthy Child Healthy World . They believe that health isn't just about what you put in your body; it's about everything around you. Their Get Clean® line is Safe for You, Your Home, and Your Planet®.  We received the Shaklee Get Clean Starter Kit and I was SO excited when it arrived! I did not expect the kit to contain nearly every product that I use on a daily basis and was actually excited to clean my house!!!!

Check out this video......it really makes you wonder how much regular cleaners really affect our health and the health of our children!

After I watched this video, I took out some of the products under my sink and looked up their ingredients on the household data base and I was so frightened by what I found. Here are a just a few of the ingredients found in common cleaning products that most of us have under our sinks: kerosene, phenols, cresol, lye, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, sulfuric acid, petroleum distillates, ammonia, sodium hydroxide, butyl cellosolve, phosphoric acid, formaldehyde, chlorine bleach, morpholine, phthalates. YIKES! That is super scary. Now that I know, I feel much better about using the Get Clean products from Shaklee!!  I have been using the Get Clean products for nearly a month now and to say I am impressed is an understatement. My favorite product so far has been the Get Clean Germ Off Disinfectant Wipes!!!  These are so convenient, they  do a great job of cleaning and disinfecting AND they smell awesome!!!!

Another favorite product that I have tried is the dish soap. I have sensitive skin and a lot of dish soaps make my hands itchy. I have tried all natural dish soaps before but I haven't liked them because I don't feel like they are getting my dishes clean because they just don't suds up like regular dish soap does. Below is a picture of my sink AFTER I washed 2 sinks full of dishes! AMAZING! And best of all, no itching or burning hands!

I cannot wait to continue using these products in our home. I feel like I am really doing my family a favor and that makes me feel really good!!!

  8. I'm already trying to undergo a green makeover. We still have one product containing bleach, but we do not have many products that are not made from natural sources. We'd love to try Shaklee.

  16. I found some chlorine bleach and ammonia. Now that we have a baby, I really make a conscious effort to minimize our exposure to chemicals. It's better for our health AND for the Earth! :) Could use a starter kit from Shaklee so I could get rid of all those harsh chemicals!
