Zebra Bedroom Makeover

This is a big week for us! Our son Joshua turns 7 and our daughter Emma turns 9, just one day apart!  We had a family celebration yesterday for both of them and I was soooooooooo excited!!  I have been planning Emma's surprise bedroom makeover for her birthday for several months now and I couldn't believe that the day had finally arrived and she was going to get to see it!! People think giving a room makeover has to be super expensive but I am here to tell you that you too can completely makeover a room on a budget! First of all, I started months in advance and picked up little things here and there so I wouldn't have the entire expense all at once. I have some pretty crafty people in my family too so I asked them to help and the final product was beyond amazing. I also purchased lots of the accessories off of Ebay and Etsy! Emma was so excited about it that she didn't leave her new room the entire day yesterday after she saw it! YAY!

Can you believe that my mother in law and her sister MADE this stuff?! My husband's aunt made the quilt and my mother in law made all of the pillows. They did an AMAZING job! I wish I was this crafty!

I bought these letters and the birthday hat both from different shops on Etsy! You can find some amazing products on Etsy AND support some super awesome work at home Moms! The letters came from the Crafty Shat shop and the birthday hat came from A to Zebra Celebrations

My Mom made the curtains and they turned out super cute. These pictures don't catch their detail at all! She sewed cute pink zebra ribbon across the bottom and it matched the room perfectly. I am hoping she will post a tutorial on how she made them at some point because I know it was super easy because she made them in less than a day!

My husband's aunt made the teddy bear to match her bedding and I bought the "E" from A to Zebra Celebrations when I purchased the birthday hat. I bought the storage ottoman from Ebay for $20 and I love how it doubles as storage and as a little nightstand for her stuff!

I also purchased this hairbow board from a shop on Etsy called Precious Baby Treats. I love the way it turned out but I am not going to lie. I was worried it wasn't going to make it here on time. It took her nearly 3 months to get it to me after LOTS of excuses which really bummed me out. But it arrived on time and looked fabulous and that is all that matters at this point. I learned a valuable lesson about purchasing things on Etsy through this transaction. Always use their checkout. If you are ordering custom, make them create a special listing just for you so you can still make the purchase through Etsy and don't just let them invoice you through Paypal. If you do it outside of Etsy, your purchase is not protected and if your item never arrives, you are out of luck!!!

I bought this personalized clock from the Clocks in Stock Etsy shop. Her turnaround time was awesome and we had this within just a few days. Best of all, we paid less than $15 for this and it adds so much pizzazz to her room!

This Zebra Shoe Organizer and Zebra Clothes Hamper both came from Ebay. They were both brand new in the box and we paid less than $10 for each of them. They are great accessories to the room!

The banner above her bed I got for a total steal from Shindigz party supplies! I subscribe to their email updates and one day they were offering personalized birthday banners for $1!!!!  You would have thought I won the lottery. LOL

I think she was really happy! I know I was! It felt so good to have her look at me and say "You are the best Mom ever!!!!" xoxo

What do you think?!

  1. Her room looks awesome! You have some very talented family members. :0) I also love that you were able to pull together such a great theme through the various online shops. It looks awesome!

I love comments!! Thanks for taking the time!
