I cannot believe another week has come and gone. Where oh where is time going?! I just completed my 3rd week of Nutrisystem which is mind boggling to me because it seems like I just started yesterday but now that things are becoming more of a habit for me, it's getting easier and easier so time is just flying!
This week was all about portions for me. What I have learned this week is that sometimes it's OK to indulge on those unhealthy food choices but portion is HUGE and we must learn to look at serving sizes and not go overboard! I remember the first time I opened up a package of Nutrisystem cereal and poured it into the bowl. I looked at the bowl like "Is this a joke or what?!" I couldn't believe how little cereal was in the bowl. So I grabbed a couple of my favorite boxes of cereal off of the shelf and took a look and sure enough, this was the recommended serving size. Most of us don't pay attention to things like this. We simply fill the cereal bowl and eat it like that but the truth is, when we do that, we are potentially taking a 150 calorie bowl of cereal and turning it into a 300+ bowl of cereal by doubling and sometimes even tripling the serving size without even knowing it. So what I did was invest in some smaller bowls. I now eat all of my cereal, yogurt, etc. out of these smaller bowls and it's almost like it's tricking me into thinking I am getting more than what I am because I am getting a full bowl full. Might sound silly to some but it works for me and if you struggle with portion sizes like myself, this is a good way to trick your mind and not feel like your bowl is so empty. I also stuck a 3/4 cup measuring cup inside my cereal boxes and have been encouraging the kids to portion out their cereal as well. I believe good habits (and bad!) start with kids and grow with them so I want my kids to learn better habits before it's too late for them!
I thought this was so funny! I was trying to take a picture of the sandwich cookies from Nutrisystem (so yummy, by the way!) and my 2 year old kept trying to steal one before I could ever snap a picture. Guess Mommy isn't the only one who loves them!!!
This was a crazy busy week for me and I had to really discipline myself to keep on track. With baseball games and soccer practices nearly every night of the week, sometimes it's hard to not cave in and skip a workout or grab something to eat from the drive through but I have learned that I just have to stay focused and keep my mind on my goal! 2 pounds a week is totally and completely doable, I just have to keep consistent with my eating and my exercise. My goal for next week is another 2 pounds of weight loss AND to find a 5K to sign up for in June. I am really starting to feel good about walking and jogging and I am able to run for a longer duration now that I have dropped some pounds and have been consistent with it every day. I think this will be a good way to keep me motivated.
Best part of the week? Putting on a shirt that I haven't been able to wear in over a year AND getting a pair of shorts 2 sizes smaller than before! That, my friend, is SUCCESS!!!! Next week along with my weight loss results, I will also be sharing a video review as well as my inches lost! Stay tuned!!!
Week #1, 7 pounds
Week #2, 3 pounds
Week #3, 2 pounds
Total weight loss to date: 12 pounds!!! Not bad for 3 weeks work!
