Oven Baked French Fries Recipe

Since Nick and I are doing the SHRED diet, we have been trying to overhaul our entire family's eating habits. We have four children and if we don't start teaching them healthy habits now, we are setting them up for failure when they are older.  Of course children love french fries so we have been experimenting trying to find the PERFECT "healthy" french fry recipe. I think the one below is one your entire family is sure to enjoy!

What You Need:

1 Large Russet Potato per person (We use 6-8 for our family of 6)
Montreal Steak Seasoning
Olive Oil

Directions:

*Slice the Potatoes (You can leave the skin on or take it off, we prefer it off)
*Rinse the potatoes in cold water and then use a paper towel to pat the excess water off
*Place potatoes in large bowl and pour 1/4 cup olive oil over the top of them; shake the bowl so all of the potatoes get coated
*Place potatoes on an aluminum foil lined baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray
*Sprinkle seasoning over the top of all of the potatoes. If you don't like the Montreal steak seasoning, you can use salt and pepper or seasoned salt or any other seasoning you prefer for that matter.
*Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Shake around about halfway between.
*Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce!

I used to do fries in the oven to make them healthier as well. They are good, but I'd get annoyed when they'd stick to the foil, even though I sprayed it.
But one day Good Morning America had the Actifry as one of their deals that they do occasionally with that Torrie lady, any way it was half off.
It's pricey, even at half off, but I went ahead and got it, and it does great fries, and you only use one tablespoon of oil for almost 2 pounds of potatoes. They taste great, and I can them a little crispier in it.
I also do wings in it. I do not add any oil with those, since there is fat as they cook. I do about 16 wing pieces in 25 to 30 minutes.
I just found your site, since I just bought The Shred book, and was searching for peoples experience with it. I hope to get started tomorrow. I sure hope I do as well as you and your husband! Thanks for posting about your experience with the diet.
