SHRED Diet Smoothies

I  have loved everything about the SHRED diet over the past 7 weeks but one of the most time consuming parts of the diet are the smoothies. I love smoothies but when I am in a hurry, I don't have time to sit around and cut and clean fruit and prepare smoothies.  My husband leaves for work a little after 6 a.m. and we definitely don't have time to make smoothies in the mornings before he leaves for work so this is my tip of the week. Not only does it save a boatload of time but it helps keep your fruit fresher longer. I find that my fruit starts to go bad by the end of the week and this is a great way to make sure it stays good and fresh until it's ready to be used.

After you go shopping for the week, cut and clean all of your fruit. Cut and measure out your fruit for smoothies and put the ingredients into freezer bags. Write the name of the smoothie, how many servings it has and any additional ingredients you will need to add when you are ready to blend it. Below is one of my favorite SHRED Smoothies, Fruit Power! I cleaned, cut and measured out fruit for each recipe and then when I am ready to make them, I just have to add the orange juice, ice and yogurt! So quick and easy. I have included the recipe below!

Fruit Power Smoothie
4 servings
Under 200 Calories

1 cup strawberries
1/2 cup blueberries
1 kiwi
1 banana
1 cup ice cubes
1 8-ounce container peach yogurt
1/2 cup orange juice, not from concentrate

Blend together and enjoy!  Can you say YUM?!

The ingredients above will make 4 servings of this smoothie. If you are only making 1 serving you will have to use only a quarter of a banana.
