I absolutely cannot believe that today is the last day of Week 4 of the SHRED diet. Only 2 more weeks to go! Week 4 wasn't so bad and we were introduced to some new foods this week! One of the options this week was veggie burgers. Even though I don't eat beef or pork, the idea of a veggie burger just didn't appeal to me. I am an extremely picky eater and I am not a big fan of vegetables so I was quite certain we would just skip the veggie burgers and eat one of the other choices. But my husband insisted. So off we went to the grocery in search of the "perfect veggie burger." Our local stores only sold 2 brands, Boca and Morning Star so we bought a box of both. The Boca burgers are much more nutritious so I went with the Boca burgers while my husband went with the Morning Star (which had over double the calories, no thanks!) I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed the burger. So if nothing else, SHRED has definitely encouraged me to try new things, that's for sure. I ate mine on a whole grain bun with a little ketchup and it was nice having something that made me feel full!
Wash half of a head of cauliflower and cut off all of the stems. Add to a bowl of 1/4 cup of olive oil, salt and pepper. Toss the bowl to ensure all of the pieces get the mixture on them and bake on a baking sheet at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. when they start to turn brown like in the pic below, they are PERFECT! Yum. Makes me hungry thinking about it!
This wasn't a big week in pounds lost (Hubby and I both lost 1 pound) but it was a huge week in inches. This is why it is SO important to take your measurements when you do your weigh-in's. I have officially lost 8 inches and dropped 2 pants sizes. When I woke up one day this week and decided to try a pair of jeans that didn't fit just a few weeks ago, I was taking a big chance but when those jeans pulled up over my hips and I was able to button them and they fit perfectly, I could have done a cartwheel. That's success.
On to Week 5!

Thanks for all of your blogging regarding the Shred diet plan (what's working and not)...just ordered my book yesterday and will start by the weekend. I love smoothies and protein shakes (but hadn't thought of putting them in freezer first, so thank you for the idea) and honestly, I thought the pictures above were air-popped popcorn...cauliflower? Wow, can't wait to try. Thanks and I'm subscribing to your posts as well and hoping for a couple sizes smaller and 4-6 inches would be great.
