SHRED Diet Wrap Up and Tips

We are on the verge of finishing up our final week on Dr. Ian's SHRED Diet and I could not be happier right now. I honestly feel greater than I have felt in a really long time. I started out not knowing what to expect and worried that this would be yet another diet that I couldn't stick to. I am so happy that I was wrong.  Not only did we stick with it but I have lost 23 pounds and I have dropped 4 whole pants sizes. My husband ended up losing 20 pounds and 2 pants sizes. More importantly, we both feel so much better.

I could probably do SHRED now with my eyes closed, not even looking at the book. Seriously. Everything has become such a habit now that I don't even need to look to see what kinds of foods I should be eating. Even at times where we go off the diet, my husband and I are very conscious of what we are eating and we don't over-do it. Before we started, we both dealt with a lot of stomach issues at nighttime. I never would have guessed that just changing our diet would fix all of that. No more heartburn and upset stomach at bedtime. My migraines are even better. We both sleep so much better too. My husbands work is very demanding and he was telling me how before SHRED, he had trouble making it up and down this flight of stairs he has to go up and down several times a day. He said by the time he got to the top he was dizzy and felt like he could pass out. Now today, he can run up and down those steps without any trouble. It's nice to be able to breathe!!! 

Do you have a picture that makes you cringe? This is mine. It was taken at a Christmas party at our church. When we left to go to that party, I thought I looked great. After someone posted pictures, I wanted to crawl in a hole. I looked horrible! It was this picture that made me realize I had to do something about my weight. I was tired of spending hours trying on things in my closet only to be left feeling down and depressed because I couldn't find anything that fit me right. My face was fat and my double chin was gross.

This. Is. Disgusting. (Especially sitting next to my younger, skinny sister! LOL) 

I looked pregnant before I started! Ugh! 

But now, I feel great! I cannot wait to continue and see what is in store for the next cycle :)  My goal is to lose another 15 pounds by Summer and 35 pounds by Christmas. I think I can, I think I can. If I could lose 35 pounds, I would be to my goal weight and that isn't so far off now considering where I started! 

So as we wrap up, I offer these tips for the SHRED diet! 

*Plan ahead of time. The day before you start each new week, go through the entire plan for the week and make sure you have all of the grocery items you need. 

*If you know you aren't going to be home during certain meals, be sure to take the foods with you that you need. I keep healthy snacks in my car at all times so if it's time to get something to eat and I am hungry, I am not making a bee line for the first drive through!

*Don't just weigh yourself. Measure yourself too. Some weeks you will not lose big pounds but you will lose inches. This is really what kept me going on weeks where I didn't lose or I only lost a pound.

*Don't skip meals. Ever. This plan is built on you eating at certain intervals so it's really important not to skip meals.

*Get a buddy! I don't know if I would have been so successful if my husband wouldn't have joined me. 

*Don't skip workouts. 

*Don't give up. If you fall off the wagon, get back up and hop back on!

  7. I am just about to start the SHRED diet... your blog is very encouraging. I want to lose 15lbs to reach my goal weight. 20 would be the icing on the cake!
