You might have fallen in love with your home when you first bought it but after awhile, chances are you are going to want to do some updating. My Mom is the worst for this. It's not uncommon for me to go over to her house on a Monday and go back on a Friday and one of the rooms in her home look completely different.
*Update bathroom hardware. Look at hardware like jewelry. It really adds pizzazz to a room when you choose high quality hardware and it can add a lot of elegance to a room. Even accessories like towel bars, hooks, etc. can add flare to a room so choose wisely.
*Paint: Often times a fresh new coat of paint can do wonders in a room. Choose colors that fit your style and personality. Cool colors like gray and light blue with give a calming effect to your bathroom. Pink and orange tones give a cozy feeling while bright bold colors will add an energetic vibe.
*Install newer, modern faucets: I am in love with the modern faucets on today's market. Consider choosing one that is also low-flow so not only will you be updating the look of your bathroom but you are going to cut costs as well!
*Change out the ceiling panels. After awhile if your bathroom isn't properly ventilated, your ceiling might start to look cracked or discolored. Places like DBS Bathrooms have easy to install ceiling and wall panels to help give any room an instant face lift. We are actually dealing with this in one of our bathrooms because the previous owners never installed a fan. I would love to get some new ceiling and wall panels up when we get ready to remodel.
Update lighting: This is one of my biggest pet peeves in a home. It's amazing how much new lighting can change the look of a room. We just updated lighting in three rooms in our home and that alone has made a total transformation in the look of the room. Change out those old, ugly ceiling fans for a fresh new modern light that will give your home new appeal.
Replace your toilet. I know most people probably think a toilet is just a toilet. If you have seen one, you've seen them all, right? This simply isn't so. If your toilet is really old, it could be bringing the overall look of your bathroom down. There are some amazing toilets on the market today that can add style to your bathroom.
Whatever changes you make, make sure they fit your style and personality. There is nothing worse than giving a room an overhaul that you end up hating in the end. Choose colors and accessories that you really love because chances are, you are going to be stuck with them for awhile.
