In a recent survey that was shared with me, 85% of women said if they could renovate any room in their home, it would be their kitchen. I would have to say I am a part of that 85%. I spend countless hours in my kitchen, preparing meals for my family and I need it to be as functional as possible for my needs. Currently we need a major renovation because our counters and cabinets are outdated and old and our white tile floor just doesn't go very well with a family with four young children. I recently turned to KBB East Anglia Kitchens for some ideas to help give our kitchen a face lift! Here are some great ideas to help make your kitchen a more enjoyable place to be again!
*There is nothing worse than having old, outdated appliances. You can have a wonderful kitchen but if your appliances are out of date, your entire kitchen will look old and outdated. Consider upgrading if your appliances are bringing your kitchen down.
*Open up your kitchen more by removing upper cabinet doors and decorate the open shelves. Use colorful dishes to help add a more decorative element.
*Add color and make your kitchen a more lively place to be. Try a bolder color on the walls and cover chairs with coordinating fabric. Consider painting lower and upper cupboards in contrasting colors to add a little flare.
*Replace old sinks and faucets. When we purchased our new home, the kitchen faucet was leaky and old. We replaced it with a high quality, modern faucet which has made a huge difference. We also put in a soap dispenser to keep the sink area uncluttered by not having dish soap bottles laying around.
*Put up new window treatments. I'm a bigger fan of blinds because curtains require a lot more cleaning. Whichever you choose, make sure they highlight your kitchen's beauty and style.
*Update cabinet hardware. You can find so many amazing knobs and hardware on the market that will truly make a huge difference in the look of your kitchen.
*Update your lighting. This is probably one of the easiest things you can do to make a huge difference in the appearance of your kitchen. We are in the process of updating our own kitchen lighting by adding a modern chandelier to go above our dining room table to replace the old ceiling fan that hangs there now. Once we get a new island put in, we plan on adding a pendant light to hang over the top of it.
Check back later in the year to see how we are coming along with our kitchen renovation! What room would you makeover if you could choose any room in your home?
