Did you know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month? To highlight the importance of this very delicate topic, the Allstate Foundation has launched their Purple Purse campaign to help educate people on the signs of domestic violence and what you can do to help. The campaign involves actual purple purses that have unique codes inside of them along with information on domestic violence. Every time each purse is passed on to another woman and logged in at purplepurse.com, the Allstate Foundation will donate $5 to the YWCA.
Inside each purple purse is important information and facts about domestic violence. Did you know that domestic violence happens 145 times each hour? Over 5 Billion dollars is spent each year in healthcare costs due to domestic violence and it's one of the top causes of homelessness with women. If you are reading this, chances are you know someone who has been a victim of domestic violence which is why it's so important for us to get the word out to women that they are not alone and that there is help and hope for them. Domestic violence does not discriminate. It affects families of all religions, all income levels and can happen anywhere. Because most victims of domestic violence stay in their situation because they do not have the means to get out, The Allstate Foundation's Domestic Violence program helps educate and support survivors so they can have the confidence and resources to thrive.
If you would like to help, please visit PurplePurse.Com and enter virtual code 0002 along with your zip code so that your donation will be counted! Be sure to also check them out on Facebook here!
