Ways to Make and Save Money as a Stay At Home Mom

A lot of Moms and Dads have the desire to stay home but financially, it just isn't an option. This was actually my family about a decade ago. I wanted to be home with my children but financially, our family needed both mine and my husbands income. Every day I would sit in my desk at work dreaming of being home, being a room parent in my kids classrooms at school and just being with them full time. After the birth of our 3rd child, I started searching for ways to make money at home and ways to save money as well so that I could see my dream of being a stay-at-home Mom actually happen. It took a lot of hard work and creativity, but being at home now with our 5 children is the best thing I could ever want or get out of life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

One of the first things I found was taking surveys online. One of the places I first signed up for was Survey Junkie. You are not going to get rich this way, however, it is extra money that you can make and in my opinion, every little bit helps. I would do the surveys at night after I got all of the kids to bed so it didn't take up any of my time with the kids during the day and it worked out great.

Couponing. I have to say, I am not an extreme couponer and I really struggled for awhile because most of the coupons I was finding were for foods and products that we don't use but after learning how to search out coupons online, I got a lot better and I am actually able to save a lot of money now that I can find coupons that we actually use. I also compare sale ads each week to see where the deals are to maximize our savings.

Babies can be expensive but for our last 2 children, I breastfed (and am currently breastfeeding our newest addition) and used cloth diapers most of the time so we really had no regular expenses. Diapers and formula are expensive so if you can get away from these 2 huge expenses, I would encourage you to do so. If you do formula feed, sign up with formula companies for coupons. Even though we aren't using formula, somehow I am still getting monthly coupons from Similac for formula and these are not little coupons. Some of them are up to $15 off! You can also watch for coupons for disposable diapers. If I can find coupons for Pampers, I watch sale ads to see when they go on sale. CVS tends to be where I get the best deals on disposable diapers and wipes. Purchasing cloth diapers can be expensive up front but in the long run, you do save a lot of money PLUS, they are super cute.

Swagbucks is another great way to earn extra income. I have to admit. I have been a member for a long time and I am STILL learning how it works but I have friends who earn TONS of gift cards every month using Swagbucks. I need to find time to get a lesson so I can learn because gift cards come in super handy for the holidays, birthdays or just every day stuff.

I love being able to stay home and even though we do make a lot of sacrifices, I wouldn't want it any other way. Do you stay at home? What ways do you save or make money to help offset the loss of income?

  1. Just received a check for $500.

Many times people don't believe me when I tell them about how much money you can earn by taking paid surveys online...

So I show them a video of myself getting paid over $500 for filling paid surveys to set the record straight.

  2. Do you like speaking?

    Or to talk English?

Would you like to talk and get paid good money for speaking?

  3. ClixSense is a very popular get-paid-to site.

I love comments!! Thanks for taking the time!
