How does reverse osmosis work?

1. Water travels from a valve which is attached to your household water supply down a line into the pre filter.
2. The system contains one or more pre filters which are there to help protect the membrane. They remove substances like dirt and sand from the water.
3. The membrane itself is the central part of the system. It's here where detrimental contaminants are removed from the water.
4. Once the water has passed through the membrane it's stored in a tank. This tank generally holds between two and four gallons of water.
5. On leaving the tank, the water passes through another filter which is there to finish off the process and make sure the quality of the water is to a high standard.
The clean and fresh water is delivered to you through a tap which is installed on the sink top. All of the contaminated water leaves the system through a drain line which leads to the drains of your home. As you can see, reverse osmosis is an efficient and effective way of making sure you have clean water to drink in your home.
